"One Big Beautiful Bill" Passed

Hello all! The One Big Beautiful Bill unleashes major tax relief for many – but comes at a significant cost to social services and energy incentives.
• Permanent Extensions of Trump Era Tax Cuts
– Individual income tax brackets and the doubled standard deduction from the 2017 TCJA are now permanent, largely through 2029 with inflation adjustments

• SALT Deduction Cap Rises
– State and local tax deduction increases to $40,000 (phases out for high-income earners) for five years, then reverts to $10,000.

• New “No Tax” Benefits for Workers
– Up to $25K tax deduction on tips and $25K on overtime pay annually (for those earning under $150K), through 2028

• Auto Loan Interest Deduction
– Deduct up to $10K annual interest on U.S.-assembled auto loans, phased out above income thresholds, applies 2025–2028

• Gambler’s Loss Deduction Cap
– Gambling loss deductions limited to 90% of losses (vs. 100% before), effective 2026.

• Tax Relief for Seniors
– Raises standard deduction by $6,000 (individuals) / $12,000 (couples), boosting tax-free Social Security eligibility—potentially up to 88% from 64%. Expires 2028

• Child & “Trump Baby” Accounts
– Child Tax Credit increased to $2,200. New $1,000 “Trump Accounts” for newborns to invest in their future
